World War I
During World War I the Ottomans invaded Lebanon and cut all diplomatic relations with France. French missionaries were forced to stop all activity. The domain was occupied, then looted and burned by locals - Christians and Muslims alike. Proclaimed in 1922 under French mandate, the new Lebanese state gives the Jesuit fathers idle hands and plenty of free time to strengthen businesses and anchor them deeply in the Bekaa.

The Lebanese Civil War
Established in 1947, the clinic became well known throughout the region. It held true until the beginning of the Lebanese war. An extension of the Saint-Joseph University was founded in 1975 and formed a close partnership between the School of agriculture (ESIAM) and the domain, which hosts interns and students in agro-alimentary studies and agriculture.

External events hit the domain again in the mid-1970s at the beginning of the Lebanese war, with the presence of armed Syrian and Palestinian forces who occupied the agricultural land. The Jesuits resisted and lived daily under military occupation. Palestinians left the area in 1998, after the bombing of the domain during an Israeli raid using fragmentation bombs which are banned by international conventions.

Once the era of invasion is over, fathers gradually find their freedom. The many aspects of the domain and the Jesuit residence make it an exceptional center of attraction in the Bekaa, not to mention the domain's role in training, education, and local agricultural production.
