Development

The Jesuits labored to expand their network of schools throughout the Bekaa - Zahlé, El Maalaqa, Talabeya, Jdita and particularly in the village of Tanaïl. In 1890, an orphanage was created in the convent. Children spent their time at school, working the fields, and performing manual labor. Then in 1912 a school for teachers was created, and for 17 years they have been modeling a number of professors throughout Lebanon, distinguished by their scientific and religious dedication to youth services.

The early twentieth century marked the beginnings of regional influences in the area, and an expansion of the monastery itself, the church was built, along with the farm and the orphanage. The first World War slowed the Jesuits momentum and gradually limits their field of action within the domain.
